So many corrupt files on my pc that after days of trying to fix it I gave up and just formatted and started fresh, and vowed NEVER to have anything to do with Bitdefender ever again as long as I live. Not one virus anywhere.īut Bit Defender had done its damage.

Heck I even did a windows Defender offline scan (Win 11) ditto. Kaspersky offline scanner, ditto, Malwarebytes scanner, ditto.

Of course, restarting my computer and doing a full scan with, you guessed it, bit defender, had not a single infected file. I had manually ok'd 100 BD messages by that point and realised it was never going to end, it was stuck in a false detection loop. After an hour it was still going so I had to force shut down. My entire computer was locked except for this small bit defender disinfection window. No rhyme or reason, just some random file from some random location on my drive. Every time I pressed ok to close one disinfection, a new one would immediately pop up with some random file on the computer. Bit defender was having a serious brain fart and thought EVERYTHING was infected on my entire drive.

I still did weekly scans with Malwarebytes free and BD itself. I KNEW all these files were fine cause my system was infection free. I knew the files were fine so I kept saying restore but basically all my system files got hoses and wouldn't restore so that was it. then I would press restore and it would fail to restore cause it was a protected folder. The entire screen went grey, and it told me so and so file was infected. What happened was, I was just in my C drive and opened up view options for folders, and suddenly Bit Defender went insane. I am still haunted by that blank grey screen and my entire computer being locked down and unable to use anything but interact with BD.īit Defender literally destroyed my PC (Latest total security version at the time), to the tune of weeks of support requests, and them taking over an entire week to answer the first one when I was pulling my hair out and begging them for help - apologising for the delay, and promising they'd deal with me directly and quickly with follow ups, yet it just got worse and worse with delays and they never helped me at all. One day out of the blue, when I wasn't even online doing anything, I was just changing folder option settings in windows explorer - that's literally all I was doing, I wasn't opening a file or anything, the BD nightmare happened:

Imagine your entire computer locked up, like ransomware, but by the AV that's supposed to be protecting you but was acting worse than most viruses itself! Note, the Alienware was win 10 and the Razer win 11 and I truly believe that had something to do with it and BD hadn't worked it all out yet with 11, but regardless that's not my fault since they said it was compatible and no one deserves what happened.

I did regular scans, had all protection enabled to recommended settings, etc. I bought a Razer in its place, and of course I happily installed BD on that. So they offered me a newer model or a refund and I took the refund. I had used Bit Defender on my Alienware laptop but that developed a GPU fault after a few months and Alienware no longer had the one piece part to directly replace it (mine was a one piece gpu/cpu/ram/mobo setup).

I know nothing of that makes sense until I tell you the story so here goes: If it was all false positives, the destruction it caused was incredible. Remember, my computer was protected by bit defender total security the entire time, so if what happened was actual real detections all over the computer, that means BD hadn't been doing its job at all for those months and allowed my entire computer to become infected. But then the bit defender nightmare happened and it still haunts me to this day. Did you end up moving to Bitdefender? I was a happy Bitdefender user for many months, it was fast, SO easy to use and I felt safe.
